CREATOR

Tbone and Friends is dedicated to creating fun, upbeat cartoons and comics that teach children and the young at heart who God is

and what He wants for each and every one of us.

Where did the idea of Tbone come from?

I originally painted Tbone as a blue dog in different scenarios in paintings I sold online and locally. Later, the children’s director of my church at the time “Christ United Methodist Church”, came to me with a request to make a weekly comic strip for the kids that attended church. Then later, Tbone was brought to life in “The Big House”, a weekly play-type skit designed  to teach and entertain the children’s group.

Why are you creating comic books?”

I see Tbone in comic format because I’m very visual and I want to create these stories for kids who don’t necessarily like to read books in general.

Plus, comics are very direct and to the point besides being fun to read.

Why make a comic book for children?”

There are three reasons. One, I wanted to make something that when a broken-hearted kid needs encouragement, that comic book will be a great get-away place, a safe place where they will know there is someone who loves them and will look out for them. To learn about God’s character better through Tbone’s problems and experiences. Two, I want to spread God’s word to children (and the young at heart) in an easy format to understand and be entertaining. The third reason is I would like to create an alternative comic to “worldly” cartoons and comics.

Carla S.Tyree is an illustrator, artist, and comic book creator.

The Tbone and Friends series was first published as an independent comic book in 2012. “Tbone and Friends Meet a Vampire” was the first issue, followed by “Tbone and Friends Learn The Secret To Life” graphic novel giving young readers a fun, simplistic lesson of Christian beliefs.

Carla is currently working on the Tbone and Friends Ten Commandment Series where each comic is dedicated to teaching an individual commandment

in a Tbone comic style.
